"Chicken Littles"
- Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC): established by World Meterological Organ-ization and UNEP to assess scientific, technical and socio-economic impact of climate change and options for adaptation and mitigation. Since is inception in 1990, it has issued four Assessments with the latest in 2007. Reported to have input of 2,500 scientists and 1,200 reviewers.
- Al Gore: published book, starred in Oscar winning movie, "An Inconvenient Truth," and winning Noble Peace Prize. Opinions more radical than IPCC with history of eco- and ego-mania with pretensions of scientific competence. See reference 1 below
- Skeptic Organizations This site established by the Union of Concerned Scientists lists the primary "denier" organizations, their "spin," their funding, and most notable members.
"Deniers"
- Skepticism.net This site provides links without endorsement to those skeptical of doomsday scenarios as written by scientists and laypeople. It warns, "Just as when dealing with things coming out of the environmentalist camp, you need to use your brain and decide for yourself to what extent global warming poses a threat to humanity."
- Global Warming Skeptics Its mission is to inform visitors of the other point of view by searching the web for news articles that questions the human induced for what it claims to be a natural phenomenon.
- CO2 Science Disseminate factual reports and sound commentary on new developments in the world-wide scientific quest to determine the climatic and biological consequences of the ongoing rise in the air's CO2 content. It attempts to separate reality from rhetoric in the emotionally-charged debate of carbon dioxide and global change.
- Pope Benedict - launched a surprise attack on climate change prophets of doom, warning them that any solutions to global warming must be based on firm evidence and not on dubious ideology.”
The REAL Facts are - the only thing the "chicken littles" and "deniers" agree on is Climate Change is occurring. They disagree about almost everything else, such as the primary cause, the magnitude, the term, the seriousness, whether we are actually warming or cooling, the fix, etc. Even the 2500 scientists that the IPCC claims reviewed its 2007 Fourth Assessment Report (FAR) on Global Warming do NOT agree with the IPCC's report on Global Warming and many are "jumping ship" to join the deniers. Why? IPCC data have been found to have been falsified. [Watch YouTube]
The problem with the Global Warming arguments is they are plagued with extremists claims on both sides. The deniers have obviously chosen to stict their heads in the sands while the proponents have exaggerated the risk. The answer is between these two groups. Global Warming is real, but is it a risk to civilization. We'll examine the arguments in more detail as time permits.
The recipe for perpetual ignorance is: be satisfied with your opinions and content with your knowledge. . . Elbert Hubbard (1856 - 1915)
